Inurnment will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Marengo Cemetery, Marengo, IA.

Lucille Blount

LucilleBlountObituaryLucille Mae Elizabeth Blount, 88 of Hartwick, passed away on March 3rd, 2010 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center where she had been a resident since October.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Bill) Vileta of Brooklyn, grandchildren, Bob Vileta, Alisa (Paul) Theis, Trent (Susan) Vileta and great grandchildren Brandon, Mandi, Emma and Will Vileta and Nate and Kristi Theis. Daughter Karen (Harry) Popelka of Vinton, grandchildren, Elon Johnston, Heidi (Brian) Jones, Travis Popelka, Cory (Laura) Popelka, and great grandchildren, Trevor and Alan Johnston, Tyler, Tristyn and Jackson Popelka. Son Rod (Vicki) Blount of Belle Plaine, grandchildren Jenni (Shawn) Blount-Gordon, Charlie (Debbie) Blount and great grandchildren Ella and Else Gordon and Isabelle Blount, Daughter Annette Allee of Belle Plaine, grandchildren Sarah (Eric) Smith, Kyle (Carolyn) Allee and great granddaughter Mackenzie Allee.
Per Lucille’s wishes her body was cremated. There will be no visitation.Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. James Campbell presiding. Family and friends are welcome. A gathering time to celebrate her life with family and friends will follow the service at Annette’s home at 1002 18th St Belle Plaine.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Edith Albert, her husband Edwin, her son in law Dennis Allee and a great grandson, Andy Vileta.

Daisy Papesh

Daisy Papesh, 92, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 in her home from complications of age. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine with Rev. James Campbell presiding. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Hrabak Funeral Home.
She is survived by sons, Duane Papesh (Donna Vercande) of Belle Plaine and Dean (Liz) Papesh of Hartwick; daughter, Diane Williams (Allan Lindsey) of Garrison, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.

Ruth J. Beck

Ruth June Beck, 76, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following a lingering illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Luzerne with Pastor Michael Musick officiating. Burial will be in Rector Cemetery, Chelsea. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Albert; daughters, Jean (Jim) Vandivier of Cedar Rapids and Susan Farrens of Lenox, IA; son, Gary of Media, PA; sister, Darlene Hoover of Sheffield Lake, OH; brothers, Bobby Oehlerich of York, NE and Don Oehlerich of Albert City, IA; also by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Arrangements are with the Hrabak Funeral Home.

Kenneth C. Johnson

Kenneth C. Johnson, 64, of Belle Plaine, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hrabak Funeral Home by Pastor Marvin Lorenz. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be at a later date. His body has been cremated.
Survivors include: his mother, Verna Kramer of Luzerne; brothers, Russell (Bonnie) Johnson of Pleasantville, Glen (Kathy) Johnson of Independence, WI; sister, Linda (Glen) McElroy of Marengo; step-family, Anne (Ray) Brecht of Blairstown, Chris Kramer of Center Point, Patricia Mensing of CA, and Jim (Mako) Bockholt of CA; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Nadine R. Hlavacek

Nadine R. Hlavacek, 90, of Belle Plaine, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following a short illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hrabak Funeral Home by Rev. Pete Hagglund. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. She is survived by sons, Tod (Peggy) Hlavacek of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Dona) Hlavacek of Conrad, and Ted (Janet) Hlavacek of Overland Park, KS; also nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established.

Merlyne G. Wonrau

Merlyne G. Wonrau, 86, of Luzerne, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center from complications of age. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine by Deacon Joe Behounek and Hospice Chaplain, Joe Kane. Burial will be in International Cemetery, Luzerne, with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
He is survived by his son, Bill (Carol) Wonrau of Luzerne; two grandchildren, Jesse Wonrau of Chelsea and Jennifer Wonrau of Luzerne; and one great-grandchild, Devon Wonrau.
Merlyne was preceded in death by his parents George and Hilda, and his wife, Carmelita.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, where there will be a Rosary at 7 p.m.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Parizek of Vining; Foster daughter, Sue Miranda of Carson City, NV; sister, Anna Olson of Victor; brother-in-law, Walter Waterbeck of Coggan; two grandchildren, three foster grandchildren, and one foster great-grandchild.

Lois A. Sherwood, 89, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 15 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ by Rev. Pete Hagglund. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may gather in the church hall following the service.
She is survived by her daughter, Winifred (Lloyd) Schild of Chelsea; step-son, Charles (Joy) Sherwood of Eldridge; sister, Florence Grummer of Raleigh, NC; step-daughter-in-law, Norma Sherwood of Belle Plaine; step-son-in-law, Terry Shedenhelm of Belle Plaine; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; also cousin Earl Johnston of Chelsea.
Hrabak Funeral Home is serving the family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine by Rev. Mike Mescher and Deacon Jim Berger. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
She is survived by her husband Paul, two sons, Tom (Donna) of Storm Lake, and Corey (Lori) of San Marcos, CA.; one daughter, Tam (Tim) Squiers of Belle Plaine; two brothers, John (Rose) Hanzelka of Conrad, and David (Carolyn) Hanzelka, of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the East Central Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 1642 42nd Street NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
